Configuring Outlook E-mail Client
To configure your Outlook or any other e-mail client, you need to know your POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) and SMTP (Simple Message Transfer Protocol) servers.
POP3 = mail.yourdomainname.com
SMTP= mail.yourdomainname.com
To configure this e-mail client :
- Open Outlook.
- In the menu bar, go to the Tools drop-down menu and select E-mail Accounts. This page will appear.
- On the page that shows, click Add under e-Mail and then select NEXT
The next page gives you options for the type of e-mail account you want. You should probably select "POP3", unless told otherwise. POP 3 is the standard way to download your e-mail form the server.
You should make sure that your user name is the full assigned username "@yourdomainname.com" to be entered as an e-mail address. i.e. if my user name was JohnD, my user name in this Outlook setup field would be JohnD@mydomain.com.

There are a couple of things you should fill out in this section.
-
When first selected, you should see the tab page "General"
The MAIL ACCOUNT field represents what you will see in your own list of e-mail accounts. This field you only see.
The Organization field is something sent in the message header to the recipient. You are not required to fill this out.
REPLY E-MAIL - it is recommended you complete this. If someone receives your message, this is the address that will populate their e-mail client address field if they were to click the "reply to" button once they have read the message.
